It's 1:45 and I'm done with class for the day. It's snowing in Moss today, big fluffy snow flakes and it looks beautiful outside. There's a Magpie sitting in a tree outside my window. The Magpie's here are beautiful and I was amazed with how pretty it was but I was unaware of the stigma that goes along with the Magpie. It has several different associations in relation to different cultures but in Norway, the Magpie is often referred to as cunning and represents thievery (hence the title of the Rossini piece "Thieving Magpie"). In other cultures it represents bad luck, witchcraft, or even death. I just think it's interesting that a bird so pretty can bear such an ugly mark.
Things are changing.
